【Senior Highschool IC】Introducing the Dual Diploma Program

Information

Obtaining an internationally recognized secondary education certificate while studying at MITA International School

Starting April 2021, MITA’s SHS International Course will offer a Dual Diploma Program (DDP) with Western Australia. In addition to the Japanese diploma requirements, students in the ICA program will be enrolled in the Western Australian senior secondary courses. Upon completion of the WACE requirements, students will obtain a Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE). MITA International School will be the first in Japan to offer a dual diploma program with Australia.

All WACE Courses will be instructed in English by qualified teachers

Qualified teachers at MITA will instruct classes in English, allowing for students to complete the WACE curriculum while living in Japan. The Western Australian Curriculum and Standards Authority and its curriculum specialists will support our teachers to ensure the standards are met for the best academic achievement of each individual student.

Nurturing Active Global Citizens

In Year 3 (Year 12), students will sit the final exam and receive an Australian Tertiary Admissions Ranking (ATAR) score. The WACE certificate and the ATAR are recognized worldwide and, in most cases will eliminate the need to take a foundation course. (Such a course is often required of overseas students attending universities in countries such as Australia, the UK, and New Zealand.) It is our hope that this added benefit will further encourage students to go overseas to pursue higher education.

At the core of the Australian curriculum is a holistic approach to education that will foster skills needed to become “a successful learner, creative individual, and active and informed citizen.” The framework for the delivery and development of these core skills are 7 general capabilities - literacy, numeracy, ICT capability, critical and creative thinking, personal and social capability, ethical understanding, and intercultural understanding - which are incorporated in the curriculum of each subject area.

We strongly believe the values reflected in the Australian curriculum mirrors MITA’s overall educational value of developing 21st century global citizens who will lead the future in this increasingly globalized society.

※Starting from 2021, students entering the ICA program will also be enrolled in the WACE Dual Diploma Program.

※In addition to the regular tuition and fees, those enrolled in the ICA program will incur an additional total cost of approximately$3,055(AUD) spread over the course of 3 years.

※Students must meet the achievement standards and general course requirements in order to achieve the WACE.
