Junior High School Application Guideline for International Students in 2016 (Extract)

For December Examinations, see * for requirements.
In February, all applicants (including December applicants*) may sit the Entrance Examinations for either the Regular or International Class.

Entrance Examination Application Admission Requirements Applicants* expected to graduate in March, 2016 (or who have the equivalent scholastic ability), who have lived abroad for more than one year and have returned to Japan within the last 3 years (as a general guideline).

  1. Note:
    Please contact us via JHS International Students Admission Inquiry Form for consultation if either of the following conditions apply:
    a) Applicants who have lived abroad for more than one year and have a minimum of Grade 2 in the EIKEN test (English Proficiency Test) regardless of when the applicants returned to Japan.
    or
    b) Attend an international school in Japan.
Application Period Starting on Tuesday, November 24th and postmarked by Friday, December 4th.
N.B. International applications must be received by Friday, December 4th.

Necessary documents should be mailed or handed in at school administration office by the deadline after paying application fees.
Documents to be submitted
  1. 1. Applicants’ CV (form provided by the school)
     N.B. Applicants who have a history of living abroad.

    2. Certificate of Overseas Residence (form provided by the school)
     N.B. Applicants who have a history of living abroad.

    3. Copy of Transcripts  N.B. All applicants
    a) Applicants who have completed 6th year at a foreign elementary/primary school.
      ●Copy of 6th year transcript or equivalent
    b) Applicants who have completed 6th year at a Japanese elementary school.
      ●Copy of 6th year transcript
      ●Copy of transcript from most recent completed year at foreign elementary/primary school

    4. Copy of evidence of English proficiency
    (Minimum Grade 2 EIKEN certificate /TOEFL score report/TOEIC score report etc.)
      N.B. Applicants who have lived abroad for more than one year and it has been more than 3 years since returning to Japan.  

    5. Passport  N.B. Applicants who have a history of living abroad.
    a) Copy of passport identification page.
    b) Copy of entry and exit stamps for country resided in.

Assessment The Subjects for Examination [Option A]
English (instructions in English), and Interview in English(conducted by a native English teacher)

[Option B]
Japanese, Mathematics (instructions in Japanese), and Interview in Japanese
Time・Points Allocation ● English・Japanese・Mathematics:50 minutes each/100 pts each
● Interview (applicants only): Approximately 10 minutes
Announcement of Results Announcement of Results 4PM-6PM on the day of the examination only via Internet
Offer of Placement Issue of acceptance certificate and admission paperwork can be picked up at the school administration office from the time the results are announced until 5 PM on Saturday, December 12th
Admission Admission Paperwork Submission Issue of acceptance certificate and admission paperwork can be picked up at the school administration office from the time the results are announced until 5PM Monday, December 14th
Application Procedures 1. Pay enrollment fees of \250,000.
2. Submit all necessary admission documents to school administration office by the deadline.
Scholarships Applicants who achieve an entrance examinations score of 80% or higher will be exempt from paying any tuition for their first year of study.

If applicants have received financial assistance such as the High School Tuition Support Fund, that amount will be deducted from the tuition first before receiving the exemption.
